Who is eligible for OSB Health Insurance plans?

Any full-time employee, which is defined as any employee who works over 30 hours per week.

Plans also offer optional coverage for eligible dependents (those 26 years old and younger) and spouses.

Are there dental and vision insurance add-ons available for employees?

Yes, we offer comprehensive dental and vision plans that the employee can choose to add-on to their coverage.

What is ACA-Compliant Healthcare?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), is also known as Obamacare, helps all Americans access affordable health insurance. There are several requirements for a health insurance plan to be considered ACA-compliant with things like guaranteed issue during open enrollment (aka pre-existing conditions are not a factor) and coverage for ten essential benefits (e.g. hospitalization, preventative care, maternity & newborn care, etc).

There are some differences between individual / small group (less than 50 full-time employees) and large group (more than 50 full-time employees) plans to be considered ACA compliant, but all plans offered by OSB are ACA-compliant.

Understanding which ACA health plan is right for you can be overwhelming, but we’re here to help.

How do I know if OS BENEFiTS is right for my business?

OS BENEFiTS is specifically designed for US-based independent restaurants and hospitality businesses. We offer two main ways to provide coverage for all hospitality workers, no matter their role or employment status: front-of-house, back-of-house, full-time, and part-time.

The first is through our comprehensive ACA-compliant health insurance plans that are available to any full-time employee (any employee who works more than 30 hours per week) starting at $250 per month. Our plans offer a range of coverage for things like critical illness, hospitalization, virtual telehealth, and much more. All health insurance plans include membership to the OSB Wellness Marketplace at no additional cost.

For part-time, seasonal employees or full-time employees that don’t require robust health insurance, we offer membership to the OS BENEFiTS Wellness Marketplace which includes access to preventive care options that can benefit your employees with or without medical insurance by offering discounted telehealth access (including a free annual visit on us!) and cash reimbursements through our OSB Supplemental Insurance add-on depending on state eligibility. Have questions? Let’s talk.

Are there any costs associated with joining OSB Wellness Marketplace?

Our pricing operates on a monthly subscription model based on the number of employees you have each month. This membership gives access to over 25 benefits, available nationwide. Interested in health insurance coverage? You can add health coverage to your plan at any time. You can see all our plans here.

Membership to OSB Wellness Marketplace is included at no additional cost to any OS BENEFiTS health insurance plan.

What are my monthly OSB Wellness Marketplace membership fees used for?

These OSB Wellness Marketplace membership fees help us subsidize the cost of ongoing program management including the recruiting, vetting and onboarding of new vendor partners.

Please note the monthly membership fee is waived if bundled with any OS BENEFiTS health insurance plan.

How are these discounts and rates possible?

By bringing many small, independent businesses together, we’re able to harness the collective bargaining power of a much larger organization, and negotiate more competitive, affordable rates. Many of our partners have also generously lowered the barrier to entry on their services, with discounts from 20% to up to 80% off (some are completely free!).

How do I talk about OSB to my team?

It’s important to communicate that while you, as the employer, have paid the monthly subscription cost, your employees are 100% personally responsible for the cost of any benefits they choose to opt into and purchase (at a reduced rate) as part of OS BENEFiTS. We will provide you with a welcome package that can help educate you and your team on how to use OS BENEFiTS and make the most of your membership.

How do you select vendor partners?

All our partners share our belief that every single one of the 15 million hospitality workers in the U.S. deserves to have access to affordable wellness benefits. We vet each potential partner to ensure that their services are high quality and their values align with our own. Each partner is also required to provide our network with ongoing access and discounts on their services. Want to become a partner? Reach out.

How can my business become a vendor partner?

Thanks for your interest! Simply provide a bit of information on your company here. We’ll review your application and get back to you to talk specifics.

Please note that all vendors are required to provide an ongoing discount (20% minimum) or beneficial rate to our members.

Can employees add dependents to the OSB Wellness Marketplace?

We currently only cover individual employees on the OSB Wellness Marketplace.

Why did Oyster Sunday decide to offer health insurance and a wellness benefits program?

Oyster Sunday has always been devoted to supporting independent hospitality businesses. After speaking with operators across the country, we found that many of them were struggling to navigate the needs of their teams and their margins at the same time.

That’s why we set out to create a practical way for small businesses to meaningfully and affordably support the health and happiness of their teams.

It’s not just a natural extension of our mission — it’s a tangible way to support the community we serve.

So, who is Oyster Sunday?

When you think of OS, think of us as Operational Support for independent hospitality businesses. (Or as the friendly champion for little guys everywhere.)

With years of combined experience at Union Square Hospitality Group, Momofuku, The Dinex Group, Instacart, Dig, Blue Hill Stone Barns, Rethink Food, Wagstaff Worldwide, and Nordic Food Lab, Oyster Sunday’s team knows what makes a hospitality business truly extraordinary.

Now we’re bringing the expertise, resources and negotiating power of these major hospitality groups to independent restaurants and hospitality businesses across the country. And we’re just getting started.
