How do I know if OS BENEFiTS is right for my business?

OS BENEFiTS is specifically designed for US-based independent restaurants and hospitality businesses, as well as for freelance individuals. Our coverage is available to all hospitality workers, no matter their role or employment status: front-of-house, back-of-house, full-time and part-time. Have questions? Let’s talk.

Are there any costs associated with joining the platform?

Our pricing operates on a monthly subscription model based on the number of employee you have each month. You can see all our plans here.

How long does it take to onboard my business onto your platform?

It’s easy as pie. (Actually, it’s a lot easier.) If you have your team names and emails ready to input, sign up takes about 5 minutes

Simply provide us with the email addresses of your team members and choose your subscription level. That’s it! From there, we’ll send all necessary onboarding information to your team and also provide you with resources to help spread the word. Need to make changes? Your employer dashboard makes it easy to manage account settings and team members as needed.

How does the 14 day trial work?

When you sign up, you will be required to enter your payment information, but no charges will be made initially. We will delay payment for 14 days to give you time to familiarize yourself with the platform, ensure it’s the right fit for your team, and to properly onboard your team.

You must add at least 1 employee at the time of registration in order to enter into the 14 day trial. After 14 days, your subscription will begin charging the card you provided, based on the number of employees, on a monthly basis.

What are my fees being used for?

These fees help us subsidize the cost of ongoing program management including the recruiting, vetting and onboarding of new vendor partners.

Is this a substitute for healthcare?

No. We know health insurance can be cost prohibitive for many small businesses, so OS BENEFiTS is designed to bridge the gap with access to affordably priced preventative care, supplemental healthcare plans, catastrophic insurance, and wellness services.

However, it is not a substitute for small-group health insurance, PEOs, Medicaid, Medicare or the Affordable Care Act. Looking for a health insurance broker for your team? We’re happy to help connect you with one.

I want to provide medical insurance to my employees, can you help?

We understand that navigating small-group health insurance plans can be a challenge. If you’re looking to find a plan for your team, here are a few avenues to explore:

Healthcare Broker | These individuals help small businesses find the right plan for their size and location. Need a referral? Contact Us

PEOs | Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) are organizations like Gusto, Justworks, and ADP. Through a joint-employment relationship, the employer leases their employees to the PEO, allowing the PEO to manage time-consuming employee responsibilities like healthcare plans.

QESHRA | Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangements (QESHRA) allows employers who don’t offer group health coverage to help employees pay for their own medical expenses. This can be used to help cover personal healthcare costs like monthly insurance premiums. Learn more here.

How are these discounts and rates possible?

By bringing many small, independent businesses together, we’re able to harness the collective bargaining power of a much larger organization, and negotiate more competitive, affordable rates. Many of our partners have also generously lowered the barrier to entry on their services, with discounts from 20% to up to 80% off (some are completely free!).

How do I talk about OSB to my team?

It’s important to communicate that while you, as the employer, have paid the monthly subscription cost, your employees are 100% personally responsible for the cost of any benefits they choose to opt into and purchase (at a reduced rate) as part of OS BENEFiTS.

How do you select vendor partners?

All our partners share our belief that every single one of the 15 million hospitality workers in the U.S. deserves to have access to affordable wellness benefits.

We vet each potential partner to ensure that their services are high quality and their values align with our own. Each partner is also required to provide our network with ongoing access and discounts on their services. Want to become a partner? Reach out.

How can my business become a vendor partner?

Thanks for your interest! Simply provide a bit of information on your company here. We’ll review your application and get back to you to talk specifics.

Please note that all vendors are required to provide an ongoing discount (25% minimum) or beneficial rate to our members.

So, who is Oyster Sunday?

When you think of OS, think of us as Operational Support for independent hospitality businesses. (Or as the friendly champion for little guys everywhere.)

With years of combined experience at Union Square Hospitality Group, Momofuku, The Dinex Group, Instacart, Dig, Blue Hill Stone Barns, Rethink Food, Wagstaff Worldwide, and Nordic Food Lab, Oyster Sunday’s team knows what makes a hospitality business truly extraordinary.

Now we’re bringing the expertise, resources and negotiating power of these major hospitality groups to independent restaurants and hospitality businesses across the country. And we’re just getting started.

Why did Oyster Sunday build a benefits program?

Oyster Sunday has always been devoted to supporting independent hospitality businesses. After speaking with operators across the country, we found that many of them were struggling to navigate the needs of their teams and their margins at the same time.

That’s why we set out to create a practical way for small businesses to meaningfully and affordably support the health and happiness of their teams.

It’s not just a natural extension of our mission — it’s a tangible way to support the community we serve.
